Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress has been seen now as she left the Rolls Royce to enter West Minister abbey. On first glance it appear that the design is very similar to the wedding dress that was worn by Grace Kelly during her marriage to Prince Rainer of Monaco in 1956.
Each of the dresses shares a striking appearance. The dress worn by Kate Middleton is both classic and modern a demure dress. Kate Middleton’s wedding dress is made of luxury silk satin in both white and ivory. There is lace detailing throughout the dress, the lace is custom made and produce by the Royal School of Needlework that is located in Hampton Court. The lace design is custom produced for Kate’s wedding dress and features the emblems of a rose, daffodil, shamrock and thistle, this is both traditional and fashionable. A 2.7 metre train finished the dress and curved into Kate’s figure as part of the design the overall finish was fantastic and nothing less would have been expect of the future Queen of England. The Prince and Princess have now taken the title of Duke and Duchess of Canterbury, which was just one of the options the couple had prior to getting married.
There was a lot of debate over who would design Kate Middleton’s Wedding Dress and being that this is the most sort after contracts of the decade with over 2 billion viewers and a potential to influence the fashion industry for decades to come there were no shortage of designers. In the end, Kate picked Sarah Burton a British designer from Manchester who recently succeeds Alexander McQueen following his suicide early in 2010.
Sarah Burton also designed the Bridesmaid dress that was worn by Pippa Middleton, Pippa Middleton’s dress is a figure hugging beautiful white satin gown with lace design follow perfectly from Kate Middleton’s wedding dress. Other features include a full pearl button back.
It is expected that both Kate Middleton’s wedding dress and Pippa Middleton’s Bridesmaid dress will be of heavy influence on fashion during 2011 and the years to come. Grace Kelly had her dress designed in 1956 and over 50 years later the design has been reborn, showing just how long a wedding dress can be desirable to women getting married.
